Workshop: Upcycled Weaving & Loom Basics
๐ Location: Edy & Bridge shop, 40 Nunhead Green, SE15 3QF
๐ Date & Time: Sunday, April 19th, 2โ5pm
๐งถ Materials: All materials provided
In this hands-on workshop, participants will be introduced to weaving as a creative and expressive process. Less about rules, more about exploration. Using simple looms and intuitive techniques, weโll experiment with how materials, texture and structure come together to create unique woven wall art to hang at home.
Working with collected, up-cycled fabric scraps saved from the garment-making process at Edy & Bridge, participants will be encouraged to play, improvise and follow their own creative instincts. This is an invitation to work outside the lines embracing curiosity, spontaneity and personal expression rather than aiming for perfection.
By the end of the session, each participant will leave with a one-of-a-kind woven wall hanging and the satisfaction of having created something entirely by hand.
The workshop is led by Ells, an artist with a background in fibre arts and socially engaged creative practice. Ells studied textiles at Central Saint Martins, specialising in Weaving, where they developed an approach centred around connection with self, others, and the materials we work with. Experimentation with waste and reclaimed textiles continues to shape their practice today.
